CAPT. Steve Friedman
United States, Florida,
Growing up, Capt. Steve Friedman spent his summers playing in the waters near his grandparentsХ house in central Illinois. The small lake, home to bluegill, bass, crappie, catfish and carp, sparked his curiosity for freshwater fishing. His interest in angling grew as he did, and as his skills increased so did his quest to fish as much as possible. While attending graduate classes in New Mexico, he spent countless days on the banks of the San Juan River pursuing rainbow and brown trout. When he returned to his hometown, Chicago, he explored the Great Lakes and spent his vacations fishing hot spots in Florida, Costa Rica, the Virgin Islands and the Bahamas where his passion for saltwater fishing blossomed. His zeal for fishing took him then to Vail, Colorado, where he guided anglers down the white waters of the Colorado, Eagle and Roaring Fork Rivers, hot on the trail of brown, rainbow and brook trout. Wanting to fish year round, Capt. Steve permanently relocated to South Florida to guide full time in the Florida Keys, where he now lives in Islamorada with his wife Kris and son, Benjamin. Since 1998, Capt. Steve has been guiding anglers of all ages and abilities through their fishing hopes and dreams. His focus is fly-fishing and fly-casting instruction, but he is skilled in all types of fishing. He trailers his specialized flats boat, an 18-foot skiff by Hells Bay Boatworks, and charters from Key West to Biscayne Bay and Whitewater Bay. On most days however, youХll find Capt. Steve polling the flats of Islamorada and the Florida Bay in Everglades National Park. He can be reached by phone at 305-393-FISH, steve@afishingguide.com by email, or through his website at www.afishingguide.com.
