Andrew Grillos began his career in the fly fishing world at a young age.  He first picked up a fly rod around age 9, started tying flies at 14, and was a commercial fly tier at 16.  His college was chosen based on the fishing surrounding Gunnison, Colorado where Andrew began working as a full time guide in 2001.

Fast forward to 2014 and Andrew now calls Seattle home and brings over 13 years of guiding experience to the table, gained while working for some of the industries top outfitters in Colorado, Alaska, Washington, Argentina, Chile, and New Zealand.  WA’s diverse fly fishing options manage to keep Andrew busy be it guiding or fun fishing, mostly chasing steelhead and occasionally chasing trout. When not on the river, Andrew works at his local fly shop, The Avid Angler, in Seattle.

“I’ve built my reputation around integrity.  A trait sometimes lost in the fly fishing world.  I’ve always let my guiding do the talking.  I will work hard to get you into fish while providing a pleasant, educational, day.  I will not take your money and show you a bad time based on unrealistic expectations, a slick website, or a “fake it until you make it” strategy like some outfitters.  I believe honesty and integrity have earned me my large client base and my solid reputation.”

“I choose Hatch reels for the same reasons I chose any other fly fishing brands that I support:  They are an upstanding brand that produces exceptional products.  The guys that run the company are fishing fanatics and are all around good guys.  The reels are unequaled in their craftsmanship, durability, and performance.”

“I only wear Simms because there is no wader on the market that comes close in quality or durability.  I only fish Scott Rods because I honestly feel that they make the best rods on the market and the guys that run the company are down to earth, fishing-focused guys.  Umpqua Flies produces and distributes my fly ideas because their quality and consistency is unmatched.  I’m extremely proud to add Hatch Reels to the list of brands that I support as there is no better reel or reel company in fly fishing.”
