Al Quattrocchi

Al Quattrocchi (aka Al Q) has been fly fishing and tying saltwater flies for over thirty years. He was recently awarded the Ross Allen Merigold Complete Angler Memorial Award by the historic Pasadena Fly Fishing Club in California. On May 14th, 2016 he became a two time, IGFA world record holder, breaking the 12 pound tippet record for calico bass and the 20 pound tippet record for white sea bass, both in one morning. His articles, photography and flies have been published in many fly fishing magazines over the years. Al is a licensed surf guide and founded the One Surf Fly event in SoCal, which lasted nine seasons and raised thousands of dollars for fly fishing non-profits, promoting saltwater fly fishing up and down the California coast. Al and his buddy, Conway Bowman host the Carp Throwdown, catch & release, flyfishing tournament in each June in San Diego.
Although Al has fished in many places around the world, his passion is still sight fishing the beaches of Southern California for corbina in the shallow summer surf. He has recently self-published his first book entitled, The Corbina Diaries, which is the first in-depth work on this popular surf species. Al recently has become the west coast regional editor for Tail Magazine which is a bi-monthy publication and the premiere magazine for Saltwater fly angling in the country.
Al Q resides in Los Angeles, CA with his wife Janet and daughter Quinn.
