Aside from being the “Head Honcho” at The Stonefly Inn, located in Twin Bridges, Montana – “Rooster” as everyone refers to him keeps himself pretty busy over the course of a year. Guiding for trout in Montana in the summer months on the Beaverhead, Big Hole, Madison, Ruby and Jefferson Rivers – and chasing steelhead in Forks, Washington and Southeast Alaska throughout the winter and spring. In short, those that spend a little time around him know he is typically the last to quit and the first to buy the beer. Rooster is part of the field advisory staff of Yellowdog Flyfishing and spends several weeks each winter hosting trips to some far off flats destination.
When asked “Why Hatch” by his customers, his standard answer is this – “I’ll gladly sell you another reel, but it will break. That would be like buying a truck you knew was going to get a flat tire at the boat launch. Doesn’t seem like a good idea does it?”
